Emma Joan Hylton Miller, joined her husband in their heavenly home on Friday, August 21, 2020 at JCMC with her children by her side.
Mrs. Miller was the former director of the Jonesborough Senior Center and had an integral part in getting a new Senior Center for Jonesborough. She was very proud of the Senior Center and after her retirement she herself became a member and participated in the many activities provided, especially Scrabble. Mrs. Miller loved those seniors and the feeling was mutual.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Miller, parents Madge and Leroy Hylton and one brother, Jerry Hylton.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Todd Miller, Jason (Kathy) Miller, one daughter, Vona (Danny) Curtis, 5 grandchildren Shane Malone, Jessica Curtis, Brandon Banks, Keeley Miller and Daniel Curtis. 4 great-grandchildren Nevaeh Blizzard, Isabella Banks, Cooper Banks and Nixon Blizzard, two sisters, Jean (Larry) Dunbar, Sarah Raby, one brother Wallace (Mary) Hylton and several nieces, nephews and cousins she adored.
Due to COVID-19 there won’t be a formal visitation but family and friends may stop by Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home to pay their respects from 9:00-4:00 on Monday, August 24, 2020 and other times at the residences. The family will have graveside services conducted by Mr. Wayne Curtis at Sevier Cemetery on August 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
Donations may be made to the Jonesborough Senior Center in memory to Mrs. Joan Miller.

Joan and i were in the same graduation class 1967. we were always good friends. She will be missed by anyone that knew her. you are in my thoughts and prayers during this trying time.

Dear family, we send our sincere condolences to all of you on the loss of our beloved cousin, Joan. Her sense of humor and smile always made my mother, Ruthie's day, when they met to chat or at a Hylton family reunion. The Treadway boys will forever cherish the kindness and love Joan showed to our family anytime we came in contact with her. Joan was such a warm, giving person that she was delightful to be around. I knew her best from scrabble, which we both enjoyed. If I got to the table and she wasn't there, sure enough another came to sit down and said they'd seen Joan, but she had to get her 'talking' done before she could play. she seemed to know and remember everyone. Her presence will be sorely missed at the scrabble table when the center reopens, her smiling face will be missed.

So sorry about your love one passing away, but she will be at home with family and friends in Heaven. I remember back in the 50's your dad playing ball at South Central School. Nelle Miller use to do substitute teaching there when I was a kid. She was the sweetest person, she and my mother were friends. She would walk up to me and put a stick of gum in my pocket with out any of the kids noticing it! May God bless each of you and keep you . I will send a donation to the Senior Center in her memory.

We went to school together, and I had the chance to get to work with her for our last class reunion I can still see that big smile on her face and here the big laugh.
