John "Jack" Canty

John “Jack” Canty of Limestone, TN passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the age of 75. Born October 1, 1944 in Hillburn, NY to John and Bridget (Errico) Canty, Jack was retired from the Spring Valley Water Company. He is survived by his wife Barbara, four children, Tom Santamorena(Diane) of Brentwood, CA, Bridget, James(Patricia)and John(Kristin), 8 grandchildren Shane, Kahlan, Gabby, Sasha, Alexandra, Patrick, Jacqueline, and Georgia, and his brother Tom. He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Allan (A.J.) and Michael.

Jack graduated from Suffern High School in 1962, where he was a standout wrestler. He earned an associate degree from Rockland Community College. For 30 plus years, Jack worked at the Spring Valley Water Company and retired as a manager. He retired to Tennessee 21 years ago, where he worked as a security specialist and a Walmart greeter.

Jack will be remembered for his kind heart and his outgoing personality. His children and grandchildren are his legacy and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

To honor Jack’s wishes, he will be buried in Jonesborough, TN. The family will have a private service and internment on March 16, 2020.

I met Mr and Mrs Canty at four oaks nursing home. They were the sweetest people we have ever had as residents. It was an honor to know such an outstanding and sweet gentleman. Prayers for the family and friends.
