Mrs. Nina Ruth Simerly Hughes, age 90, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Lifecare Center of Elizabethton.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Johnson City and the daughter of the late Loda G. & Bessie Bowman Broyles. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Roy G. Simerly and second husband, John W. Hughes, three brothers, Billy J. Broyles, David Broyles, and Harold Broyles and a nephew, Tim Broyles.
She was a member of Harvest Time Baptist Church. She accompanied several Southern Gospel Quartets, Church Trios and Duets with the piano for 50 years.
Mrs. Hughes retired from Baxter Pharmaceutical.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Barbara Simerly; grandchildren, Brian Simerly (Kathy), Christopher Simerly (Maureen) and Stacy Payne; great-grandchildren, Marissa Payne and Mason Payne; four nephews, two nieces, several cousins, great & great-great nephews & nieces, and loving friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton for their wonderful care.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Monte Vista Burial Park with Pastor Ben Hurd officiating.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harvest Time Baptist Church, 2404 Roseberry Lane, Johnson City, TN 37604.

feet of Jesus today. No more tears, no more pain.
