Mr. Henry Ray Hammonds, age 72, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Hammonds was born in Richlands, VA and the son of the late Haden & Margie Varney Hammonds.
He was a member of Johnson City Church of God.
Mr. Hammonds retired from Kroger’s in Kingsport after 33 years of employment. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Anna Hammonds, Jonesborough; children, Mark Hammonds (Cherri), Christy Hammonds, all of Knoxville, Robbie Hammonds, Mike Hammonds, both of Konnarock, VA, and step-daughter, Mindy Milhorn (Tim), Chuckey; brothers, Lee Hammonds (Judy), Kingsport and Rick Hammonds (Rosanna), Bristol, VA; grandchildren, Austin, Chris, Whitney and Megan Hammonds; step-grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Evan and Myleah Milhorn.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, September 30, 2019 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Bryant Collins and Rev. Eugene Penland officiating. Graveside services will follow at Peoples Cemetery, Mableton Rd. (Old Unicoi Rd.) Unicoi, TN.
Pallbearers will be Mark, Mike, Robbie, Chris, and Austin Hammonds and Tim, Matthew and Nathan Milhorn. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerrell Peterson, Bobby Tester, Richard Moore, Sr., Brian Smith and Jim “Bo” Oliver.
My condolences to the family of Henry. His
brother Rick talked about how wonderful he
was and how they always made time to get
together. He sounded like a wonderful man
and I wish I had the chance to meet him.
And I hope to get to see him in Heaven.
