Arthur Otho Simpson Born March 22, 1942, in Kokomo, Indiana to Arthur Orin and Mary Delilah Simpson.
He married Marlene Mausolf, December 14, 1991, and throughout their twenty-nine years together was her best friend and staunchest support in all her endeavors and family responsibilities.
Arthur Simpson died May 12, 2019 in their home in Telford, Tennessee. Art, to his friends and Oats to his Indiana family, was truly a man's man with an unparalleled work ethic, and unafraid to tackle anything providing benefit for his loved ones. Art was magnetic in personality and made friends everywhere he went.
A trucker most of his life, He was a pro. Art loved the Lord and his family, and dearly enjoyed motorcycle riding, steam trains, and traditional country and bluegrass music. He could have been a great DJ with his extensive knowledge of country music history and its artists. And, oh, that voiceâ€"it would make any country DJ green with envy. Although his later years were plagued with medical maladies, he strove every day to meet any obligation that came his way, for which his family is truly grateful. He embraced his life and his loved ones fully and will be truly missed by them all.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his children: Shawn, Dawn, and Travis Simpson and niece, Yvonne Sholty.
Art leaves to be cherished by: his wife Marlene; his son and daughter-in-law Arthur and Barbara Simpson; his daughter Amanda Simpson; his stepdaughter and stepson Katrina and Samuel Mausolf; his brother and sister-in-law James and Teresa Simpson; his sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Richard Sholty; and his two nieces and four nephews. Also, his grandchildren: Mary, Jason and his wife Jennifer; Arthur Eugene, Misty, Michael Lynn, Ryan and Kyle; and also, his nine great grandchildren, the men of New Salem Baptist Church Tuesday morning prayer breakfast; and a host of friends countrywide.
For the life and love of Art Simpson, we are truly thankful.
Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 pm Friday, May 17, 2019 at New Salem Baptist Church with Pastor Craig Ponder officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
Marlene, and the rest of Arthur's family,
Know you are all in our prayers in the coming days, weeks, and months. I am deeply saddened I could not be at his memorial service as we were out of town. Although I didn't know Arthur well, he struck me from the first time I met him, as an extraordinary person. The video tribute was wonderful, and the music was fantastic. The peace of Christ be with you all .

Cousin Marlene, what a beautiful tribute to Art. I am sure he is
looking at the slideshow in heaven and smiling. All my love to
you and all of Art’s family. Prayers too.
I am so saddened to read of Art’s passing. I had not seen him
in several years. Art and I used to talk when I was selling
boxes to Natural Spring Water, when I was working for Inland.
Art was always nice, kind, courteous, helpful, and respectful to
me. He will be missed very much in this world. All of you in
his family have my prayers and deepest sympathy. In reading
the obituary in the Johnson Coty Press, I was deeply moved
and touched. Whoever wrote it really described Art very well.
Rake care. Bob Hamache

My Dearest Marlene, You have been a friend, a
mother, and a sister to me over the years. I love
you dearly. When you and Art were married, I was
overjoyed for both of you. I knew he was the kind
of man that could challenge you, love you, and be
your friend. He did that and much more. I will
always remember him with fondness and love. I know
he will be missed every day until we see him again
in Glory. Peace and Love to you, Samuel, Katrina,
and the rest of the Clan.
