Mr. Jerry McKinney, 78, Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Governor’s Bend Retirement and Assisted Living in Erwin.
He was born November 1, 1940 in Bakersville, NC to the late Frank and Eddie McKinney. He and his family moved to Johnson City, TN when he was a small child.
Jerry graduated from Science Hill High School in 1959. He attended ETSU. He served in the US Army Pre Vietnam era.
Jerry was employed by Enco Materials for 31 years. He was Vice President of the company and was Johnson City Division Manager.
He was involved in several local clubs and organizations over the years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers. Dennis, James, and Sherwood McKinney. Several nephews and a niece.
Survivors include, his daughter Tracey (Mark) Peterson of Johnson City. Son, Chris (Martha Gray) McKinney of Jackson, WY. Granddaughters, Jordyn Peterson and Katie (Wil) Parnell. Grandsons, Noah and Mason McKinney Great-Granddaughter, Lila Grace Parnell.
Jerry’s body, per his wish, was donated to Quillen Medical School.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
