Mrs. Betty J. Simms, age 70, Limestone, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Simms was born in Johnson City and was the daughter of the late Junior & Loretta Collette McQueen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Simms, step-daughter, Susie Williams, and two brothers, Robert Lawson and Kenneth Lawson.

She was the House Manager with Oakland Park Children’s Home, retired from NHC Healthcare in Johnson City and was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include six children, Charles Keith Simms, Gary Lynn Simms (Wendy), Michael Kenneth Simms (Rhonda), Angel Annette See (Brit), Lori Lynnette Campbell (Ryan) and “adopted son”, Doug Morrison; two sisters, Patsy Bergdorf and Melissa McQueen; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Many thanks to her special friend, Debbie Harwood, who was so dear to her heart and with her each day until the very end.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Friday, March 22, 2019 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Doug Morrison officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-3:00pm Friday, prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Please join us for a Remembrance Celebration at 6:00 pm, Friday, 435 Leesburg Road Telford, TN 37690.

Pallbearers will be Brit See, Ryan Campbell, Alex Cantrell, Geoff Harwood, Chris Simms and Nathan Draper.
