Raymond Green

Mr. Raymond Green, age 74, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Indian Path Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Green was born in Washington County and the son of the late Haskell Green, Sr. & Viola White Green. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Houston Green and Haskell Green Jr., one sister, Shirley Arnett and a grandson, Nick Green.
He was an avid pool player and had also played in pro-events. He also bowled for many years in the 60’s and 70’s always inspiring others to do their best. Playing Texas-Holdem was also a hobby and passion, which got him the nickname “Rocket Ray” which he also played in pro-events.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Johnson Green, Jonesborough; children, Ray Green (Robin), Lisa Green, Michael Green and Jasmine Croy (Craig); grandchildren, Victoria Green, Kay Green, Andrew Laws, and Sierra Croy; a brother, J.W. Greene (Reda); special friends, Ken Laws, Len Johnson, Dan & Jan Numan, Pat Story and Aubrey Smith, who treated him like a father; his special canine friend, who always brought him a smile and comfort, “Kai”; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ballad Hospice, especially Ivy, for their wonderful care.
Celebration of life services will be conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Humphreys officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm Saturday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Leesburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Len Johnson, Andrew Laws, Ken Laws, J.W. Greene, Craig Croy and Brandon Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Graybeal, and James Dugger.

I am so sorry for your loss! My mother was Lora (Jo) White Wynegar, who was Viola White Green's sister. I have good memories of Raymond as we were growing up, however we lost touch as we grew older. We are praying for your family and sending out love.

I am Raymond's cousin. I have not seen Raymond in about 55 yrs. I got married in 1965 and left Johnson City and never moved back. I am sorry for your loss. It sounds like he had a very full and happy life. I know you will have a lot of good memories to help you through this difficult time. Will keep you all in my prayers. My dad was virgil Green uncle Hacks brother.
