Millard Dwight Hunt

12/25/2018

Millard Dwight Hunt, 75, went home to heaven on Jesus’ birthday, December 25, 2018.
Dwight was born in Washington County, TN to Beryl Campbell Hunt and Mabel Wilson Hunt. He spent his formative years helping out with the family dairy farm in the Fairview community. He attended Jonesboro High School and graduated the University of Tennessee in 1967.
Dwight was the proud owner and broker of Volunteer Realty and Auction Company for 50 years. He loved the excitement of putting together a big real estate deal but got even more satisfaction from sharing his love for his Savior with everyone he met.
Mr. Hunt was very active in Greenwood United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and assisted with Wednesday night bible study. Dwight was also part of the Emmaus community. He was passionate about helping others and always had a listening ear.
Dwight was an avid reader, animal lover and adventure seeker. His children and grandchildren cherished their time playing with him in the Nolichucky River. He was loved so very much and will be greatly missed!
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Teresa Jane Hunt.
He is survived by his brother, Beryl Hunt Junior and wife Glenna; children Robin Hunt Adams and husband Rob, Troy Dwight Hunt, Chad Dustin Hunt, and Justin Isaac Hunt and wife Jamie; eight grandchildren Lauren Paige Hunt, Taylor Jade Hunt, Jalyn La’Rae Hunt, Jacob Isaac Hunt, Abraham Owen Adams, Samuel Millard Adams, Elisha Michael Adams, and Judah Campbell Adams; five great grandchildren, one niece and several cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:30 pm Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:30 pm Sunday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 12:00 pm Monday, December 31, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.

Robin and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have so many fond memories of your family during middle and high school. Dwight was always so nice and included me as part of the family. Whether it was going to church, sharing a meal or just hanging out, your family had a positive influence on my emotional and spiritual development and I am very thankful for those times!!

Dwight was my MYF leader and Sunday School teacher at Fsirview United Methodist Church when I was a teenager. Any time in later years that I happened to see him, he was very friendly and positive! He will always be loved and missed very much.

I’m so sorry to hear this news about Dwight. I consider him a good friend and someone I always enjoyed being with. He was always pleasant and with a smile. I know all of you miss him. He spoke of his family often. He was very proud of his family. The world was a better place with him. Now, I know he is in heaven and heaven is happy to have him. He is there now in glory. May God continue to bless Dwight and all his remaining family. Mickey Cox

I was shocked to read in the paper today that Dwight had passed away on Christmas day. He was a wonderful person with a giant heart and he was the most Christian man that I had the privilege to know. I know that his family will deeply miss him. He certainly was the patriarch of the Hunt family.Sending love and prayers to you.

Our hearts are broken. Dwight and Jim have been friends since childhood. After graduating from high school, they hitch-hiked across the United States to see the world, a trip that greatly enhanced their lives. I worked with Dwight in real estate about 50 years ago and while there he introduced me to Jim. We've been married for 49 years. We send our condolences to the family during this difficult time.

Robin, Troy, Chad and Justin, I’m so very sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. Many of my best memories during formative years, involved him and your family. I’ll always remember our basketball games in the driveway, in the gyms, the trip to Jackson TN, time shared with his mom and dad, and all the times spent with the Hunt’s. I’d be happy to share some of my best memories with you all. He was one of a kind! I did love him and I’m thinking of you all. Ben Hale

Dwight was a friend that I met while living in Johnson City many many years ago. It’s been many years since I have seen him, but if I did he would just pick up right where we left off. He was at heart a country boy that liked people. I am sad to hear of his passing, and extend my sincere sympathies to the family.
