Rose Young Watson

12/21/2018
Rose Young Watson was born May 4, 1940, in Jonesborough, Tennessee, to Bill and
Kate (Helton) Young.

Rose enjoyed the life she shared with her husband, Nathan, as they travelled across the
country while he was in the Coast Guard. During that time, she worked as a bookkeeper
as well as raising three children. They later settled in the Seattle area for some time
before moving to Mississippi. She returned to Jonesborough for several years before
moving to Iowa in her final years. Rose loved her native Tennessee upbringing, often fondly reminiscing about her family and childhood, and the simple pleasures of country living.

She was a member of the Baptist church and her faith was an important part of her life. She enjoyed sewing and chatting with friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan; her parents, Kate and Bill Young;
her siblings, Doran Young, Mary Sherfy, and John Young.

She is survived by her children Katy Wilson (Howard) of Pella, Iowa; David Watson of Texarkana, Texas; Julie Kennedy (Joe) of Polson, Montana. Additionally, she leaves grandchildren, Ryan Wilson and Bailey Wilson of Pella, Iowa; Ariel Finks of Ostrander, Ohio; and Marissa Kennedy of Odessa, Texas. She also has two great grandchildren, Mason and Nolan.

Visitation will be at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough on Saturday,
December 29 from 1 to 2 pm with a service following at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at
Fairview Cemetery.
