“With Long Life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation” Psalm 91:16
Miss Dorothy Carstenson, 103.
Dorothy Carstenson, of Life Care Center of Gray, formerly of Jonesborough, went to be with her Lord and Savior December 9, 2018. Dorothy was born August 18, 1915, to the late Chester and Dora Engstrom, in Genoa, Nebraska. She lived most of her adult life in Spirit Lake, Iowa, having moved to Jonesborough in 2005.
Dorothy was a loving woman who had a zest for life and a passion for people. She enjoyed reading her Bible, traveling, gardening, and baking. Dorothy use to declare to others that she would “live a long life because she read her bible.” Her intimacy with the Lord is something that always inspired others. When asked what her secret to long life was, Dorothy answered, “Jesus and lots of laughing.” She will always be remembered for her unwavering faith and contagious joy.
Dorothy saw the promise of long life by the Lord come to pass. Dorothy left this earth healthy and without any sickness just as she believed and declared all her life. Dorothy is a true hero of faith that has forever inspired us all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Arnold Carstenson, her daughter, Gayle D Dale Boyle, two grandsons, Steven Dale and Michael Dale, and her brother, Cecil Engstrom.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Deanna Julian of Johnson City, grandsons David Dale of Ashley, Ohio and Zachary Julian (Faith) of Knoxville, TN, and granddaughter Denise Mclain (Bill) of Centerburg, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery, 878 Hwy. 81 N. Jonesborough, TN 37659, with Mr. Kent Green officiating.
She will be greatly missed but we know Dorothy is finally dancing with Jesus.
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised” Proverbs 31:30
A special word of thanks to the staff at LCC of Gray for their loving kindnesses and expert care over the last months for Miss Dorothy. It was very much appreciated.

My condolences and joy in her faith. Dorothy
sounds like a wonderful godly woman. I'm wondering
if we are related; my grandfather was Cecil
Carstenson of Kansas City, MO (1906-1991),
formerly of Marquette, Kansas. email
