Jack Dalton Daniels of Johnson City passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on November 23, 2018, at the age of 85.
He was born in Jonesborough, the son of William C. and Anna Crawford Daniels.
He was a graduate of Jonesborough High School and East Tennessee State College. He went into the Army in 1954 and served at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. While on leave he married Eva Nell Palmer, on January 14, 1955. After his honorable discharge in 1956, he returned to Johnson City and attended East Tennessee State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting in 1959. After graduation he worked for Mason and Dixon Trucking Company, in Accounting. He later moved to Knoxville and worked for Plasti-Line, Inc. in Accounting and attended the University of Tennessee. He returned to Johnson City and went to work at Sperry Univac for a number of years. After working at Sperry Univac, Mr. Daniels owned and operated several retail stores for many years. In 1984, Mr. Daniels became an Auditor for the State of Tennessee. In 1986, Mr. Daniels was elected to the office of Washington County Trustee where he served for 28 years. Mr. Daniels retired from the Trustee's office in 2014.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bill Daniels and Val Daniels; and sisters Sue Stott and Patsy Page.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Eva Nell Palmer; twin sons Terry Daniels of Jonesborough, Tim Daniels of Johnson City; and daughter Kimberly and her husband Jason Miller of Powder Springs, Georgia; Granddaughters Sydnie and husband Jason Parmer of Hiram, Georgia; Phoebe Miller of Powder Springs, Georgia and Grandson Brady Miller of Powder Springs, Georgia.
Mr. Daniels was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, he has been a member of the Brethren Church all of his life.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, November 26, 2018 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life for Mr. Daniels will follow with pastors Bo Deaton and Lenny Smith officiating. Special music by Jerry Huskins and Roger Street.
Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Johnson City First Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mike Stott, Danny Stott, Charlie Stott, Michael Hartman, Bob Miller and Dwayne Leonard. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Frank Haws, Dr. C. A. Renfro, Lewis Hughes, Dr. John Bradshaw, Ralph Isenberg, David O'Brien, John Markwood, J.C.Gage, Kenneth Bourbon and John Hyatt.
Our family would like to express our thanks to Dr. David Moulton, Dr. J. Shanker, Dr. Taylor, Dr. Tran. and Dr. Chang, all of the CNA's and Nurses at Princeton Rehab and Amedysis Home Healthcare and Amedysis Hospice Care.
