Mrs. Norma Jean Carter, age 88, Sulphur Springs Community, went to be with her Lord & Savior Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Life Care Center of Gray.
Mrs. Carter was born August 15, 1930 in Bowmantown to the late Ralph & Ilene Hensley Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Jerry Carter and a brother, James Harris.
Jean was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a caregiver to many in the community. She attended Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church in Unicoi and Strong Tower Baptist Church in Gray.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Kim Carter and wife, Connie; grandson, Cam Carter and wife, Stephanie; great-grandson, Ben Carter; special niece, Jan Akers and husband, James; nephew, Darrell Harris and wife, Angie; along with many other nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2018 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Ancel Presnell, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Monday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kim Carter, Cam Carter, Ben Carter, James Akers, Scottie Norton and Randall Wines.
