Christian Patrick Ausborne

08/21/2018

> Christian Patrick Ausborne, 46, died at home in Kingsport, Tennessee, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. He suffered greatly with cancer over the prior few years, but he is now free of the disease. He was with family at the time of his passing.
>
> Chris was born in Greenville, Mississippi on March 12, 1972, the son of Homer C. Ausborne, Jr., and Betty Taylor Ausborne.
>
> Survivors include his father, Homer (Cathy) of Middleburg, FL; brother Josh (Melanie) of Kingsport; nephews (David, Byron, Ryan, Matthew); niece (Betsy); aunt Carol Taylor Bean of San Jose, CA; aunt Janis Taylor of Whitefish, MT; cousin Tiffany Taylor of Sunnyvale, CA; grandfather Stanley Taylor of Vancouver, WA. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty, uncle Lloyd Taylor, grandmother Eleanor Trost Taylor, and his paternal grandparents Georgia (Dodson) and Homer Ausborne.
>
> While young Chris lived in La Jolla, CA, Pensacola, FL, Lemoore, CA, and San Jose, CA. While he spent most of his high school years in Florida, he graduated from Cupertino High School in California. As an adult he lived in Sunnyvale, CA and Big Spring, TX before moving to Kingsport in 2015.
>
> Chris had some obstacles and faced some special challenges in his life, but he didn't hold grudges against anybody. He was truly a really nice guy. While he was not officially affiliated with any church, he did attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his brother's family in the year preceding his death.
>
> Chris was a huge fan of the New York Mets and the Dallas Cowboys. This is to say that he had become accustomed to disappointment in life. His love of the Mets began as a kid when he was on a Little League team called the Mets. He was looking forward to attending a game in NYC in June, and while the illness prevented him from being able to do so, he still paid attention to their games throughout as much of their maddening season as he could.
>
> Chris was also an avid video gamer and loved to play PlayStation games. More of his favorite pasttimes include reading and collecting comic books as well as watching anime. He had a fascination with Godzilla to the point where "Where's Godzilla when you need him!?" has become a funny running joke within the family.
>
> The last real excursion that Chris had where he was able to really enjoy himself was a trip to Dollywood in April. His aunts Janis and Carol came to town to visit him, and they along with Josh's family took him to Dollywood. He knew he was sick and dying, but he was able to forget about it for the day while he enjoyed himself with the family. The family optimistically purchased a season pass for him but he was sadly only able to use it the one time. Chris cried tears of joy at being able to ride the roller coasters, even though he was dizzy well before he had even gotten on the ride. He had a really good time, and that's the best memory that really sticks with his family.
>
> Over his last two months, Chris was attended by the fine nurses from Ballad Hospice. A special thank you to Skye and Sara Beth for the care that were provided. Chris’s remains were donated to Quillen School of Medicine at East Tennessee State University, where it is hoped that there is much to be learned by future medical professionals, scientists, and others who can help to eradicate cancer and other diseases. When his cremated remains are returned to his family, the family will spread his ashes where Chris’s mother’s ashes are spread in Half Moon Bay, CA.
>
> Please consider organ and whole body donation in the future.

Elizabeth Lockhart.
I was friends with Christian for over 22 years. He was the kindest most authentic person I have ever met in my life. In 7 years later my heart still breaks from the day that he moved out of my home to go to Kingsport Tennessee to be with his family. This man holds a very dear and special place in my heart. It's still hard to believe that he is not on Earth. Rest in peace my love you took a part of my heart and my soul when you left. I Will always Love you you were kind and you always believed in me.
