Lora Sam (Sammye) Oakes entered her eternal home in the Presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus on September 12, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her son David of Morristown, TN, parents Cecil and Daisy Fritz of Knoxville, TN and her sister Alice Payne of Dandridge, TN.
She loved sweets, the beach, her family, and most of all, her husband of 64 years, Samuel Leroy Oakes Jr.
She worked in medical records at the University of Tennessee Medical Center for 37 years.
She is survived by her two children, Jeff and his wife Kathy Oakes, Lora and her husband Lynn Dowling and David’s wife, Kathy O. Flynn. She also has 12 grandchildren and their spouses and 16 great grandchildren.
For over 20 years Sammye was a faithful member of Trinity Chapel in Knoxville, TN, and for the last 12 years she has been a committed member of Hosanna Fellowship in Johnson City, TN.
A celebration service will be held at Hosanna Fellowship 6PM on Thursday, September 13 and we will meet at the graveside for an interment service at 11AM on Friday, September 14 at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 160 Edgemoor Rd. Powell, TN 37849.
