John William “J.W.” Jones, age 97, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Jones was born in Washington County, son of the late James B. and Callie Jones. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Rubble Jones; grandson, Bobby Jones; two sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Jones was a lifelong member of Seviers United Methodist Church where he also served as a deacon.
J.W. proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WW II. He was a lifelong farmer.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Ruth Jones, Headland, AL and Gerald and Pam Jones, Gray, TN; grandchildren, Beth Dishner (Andy), David Jones (Jaclyn), Kellie Cole (Clark), Cynthia Jones Frazier, Stacy Jones, Jacob Jones, John Jones (Pamela), and Scott Smith; eleven great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Mullen officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Seviers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Jones, Jacob Jones, John Jones, Scott Smith, Billy Tittle, and Frank Jones. Attendees will meet at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Seviers UMC Cemetery Fund, 951 TN-107, Jonesborough, TN 37659.

It was a great pleasure to have known JW. I always enjoyed talking to him down by Blossom's while he tended his cattle on his golf cart. My kids and I still laugh about our visits with him in the last couple years, where his sense of humor still showed through. Rest in Peace JW.
