Polly Phillips, age 95, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, June 18th, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She would have it no other way.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Washington County and was the daughter of the late Lillian Cole Kyker and Leonard Kyker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Aunt Gladys Kyker, who was a special aunt, more like a mother.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Roy Phillips, her son Roy E. Phillips and her son-in-law Phillip D. Jackson.
Polly was a graduate of Lamar High School. She was a homemaker and loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the choir for many years. She loved the Lord. All who knew Polly valued her for her faith in God and His angels and her willingness to intercede with prayer for anyone who was in need. Everyone who met Polly immediately recognized her Christ-like loving spirit. She delighted in watching the birds, playing the piano, and reading scripture. Polly cherished sending and receiving cards and notes. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with her family.
Survivors include daughters Verna Jackson and Jane Phillips Rossi (James); daughter-in-law Evia Phillips; Grandchildren, Jonathan Phillips (Michelle), Michael Davidson (Sarah), Brian Davidson, and Rebekah Moulton (Walt); Great-grandchildren, Sadie and Ryan Phillips, Cale, Noah and Brody Davidson, and Mia Moulton.
She also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the caregivers that have helped care for Polly.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 pm Thursday, June 21, at Jonesborough United Methodist Church with services following at 4:00 PM with Pastor Karen Lane officiating.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jonesborough United Methodist Church Music fund, Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, or to the charity of your choice.
