Mr. George W. Tipton, 84, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born in Washington County the son of the late Oscar and Arbetta Nelson Tipton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Sammy, son Freddie Tipton, granddaughter Misty Briggs, one brother and one sister.
Mr. Tipton was a retired farmer and had worked for the County Hwy. Dept. several years ago. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife Charlotte Franklin Tipton, Jonesborough, two sons, Hubert and Oscar Tipton, two daughters Susie Painter and Martha Plyer, two brothers, Oscar Tipton Jr. and Dwight Tipton, two sisters Caroline Rhodes and Helen McCurry, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held for Mr. Tipton on Friday at 1:30 pm at Mt. Wesley Methodist Cemetery with Pastor Dallas Gregg officiating. The family will receive friends at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home on Friday prior to the graveside service from 12 noon till 1 pm.
Pallbearers for Mr. Tipton’s service will be family and friends.

paper obituaries . I hope Charlotte and the rest of
the family are well, and wishing you all the peace that
will come.
Sorry for your loss George was a good man I
worked him years ago at the county he was a hard
working man he will be missed very much if you
