Mr. Hugh L. Shelton, age 78, Limestone, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at his residence from a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born May 9, 1939 to the late Woodrow Shelton and Clio Shelton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Christopher and Johanna Shelton, Vestal & Louie (Hammer) Broyles, father and mother-in-law, Robie & Abby Guire and several aunts and uncles.
Hugh serviced in the Army for two years and retired from Bosch Braking Systems.
His favorite hobby was building and flying remote control airplanes, where he made lots of friends and memories.
Survivors include his wife and care giver of 57 years, Louise Guire Shelton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanna & James Whiteley and Angela & Ronnie Tipton; son, Christopher Hugh Shelton; four grandchildren, Beth & William Travis, Aaron & Ashton Kyker, Kala Kyker and fiancé Dylan Edwards, Ashley Tipton and fiancé Russell Nibbe, Jr; two great grandsons, Sylar Malone and Tillman Travis; one brother and sister-in-law, Don & Margaret Shelton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda & Earmen Foster and Linda & Bob Miller; one aunt, Christene St. John; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family would like to thank Laughlin Memorial Hospital (4th floor staff & nurses), Laughlin Wound Care Center (doctors & staff), Dr. Joe Austin, Dr. Tyler Bailey & staff and Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice and Greene County Drugs Staff for helping us faithfully and the excellent care and support provided.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Shawn Broyles and Rev. Jim Fields officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 12, Noon, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at New Salem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for the funeral expenses c/o Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home P.O. Box 98 Jonesborough, TN 37659.
