Captain Richard “Dick” Zwall of Gray, Tennessee. 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Dick went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. He was born in Easton, Pennsylvania 79 years ago and moved to Johnson City in 1992. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Zwall and Ruth Mae Van Scotten Zwall.
Dick is survived by his wife Helen “Suzanne” Jeffrey Zwall of 56 years, son Jeffrey V. Zwall, his wife Yanaida and grandson Will of Dallas, Texas, and son Michael G. Zwall, his wife Kristen and grandchildren Garrett and Courtney of San Diego, California. Dick graduated form San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree and from Chapman University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. He had a 30-year career in Corrections in San Diego. He also served in the United States Navy Reserve for 30 years. His service medals included the Vietnam Service Medal. Among individual awards are the Navy Commendation Medal, Expert Rifle and Expert Pistol Medals, He commanded two Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Units and served as Chief Staff Officer of Western United Sates MIUW Units. He retired a Navy Captain in 1991.
Richard was an active member of Boones Creek Christian Church. He was also a member of the Boones Creek Historical Trust, Tri Cities Civil Ward Roundtable and various military organizations.
A celebration of life service will be conducted 4:00 pm Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Boones Creek Christian Church with Minister David Clark officiating. A reception will follow.
Honorary pallbearers are Jack Blevins, Gayle Carson, Roy Gibson, Darrell Hale, David Johnson, Perry Rindfleisch, Tom Seeley, Eric Smith, Roger Smith and Tom Webster.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mission Fund of the Joy Sunday School Class at Boones Creek Church 305 Christian Church Road Gray, TN 37615 or the VA Community Living Center Hospice Unit, P.O. Box 4000, Mountain Home, TN, 37684.

Lake Meadows will surely miss Dick's wise input
with regard to the association. We will miss
seeing Dick working out in his yard on a daily
basis. He always kept everything looking so
beautiful. And was always interested in what
others were doing in their yards.
