Mr. Roy Alfred Thomas, age 88, Jonesborough, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 28, 2017 surrounded by family at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
Mr. Thomas was born in Buchanan, Virginia and son of the late William & Liza Howard Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lee Thomas, infant son Thomas, sisters, F. Pearl Triviette, and Shirley Alexander, brothers, Martin Thomas and Walter Thomas, infant brother Franklin Thomas and a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Mae Thomas.
He was a Korean War Veteran and an avid breeder of his prize roosters. His most cherished pastime was visiting with his beloved grandchildren, Leia Davis of Johnson City, Cody Davis of Gray, Stephanie Thomas of Jonesborough and his great-grandson Holden Davis, Johnson City.
Mr. Thomas was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his children, Vera Thomas Davis (Teddy), Gray and Roy Allen Thomas (Gayle), Jonesborough; grandchildren and great-grandson; brothers, Grover Thomas, Herbert Thomas, and Clyde Thomas; sisters, Velma Tilson, Genevieve Ladd, Judy Jackson and Doris Pilgram; and other extended family.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Roy Allen Thomas officiating.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.
