Mr. John Austin Julian, born January 22, 1946 in Pineville, KY, went to be with his Lord and Savior October 27, 2017.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Warfield and Oscar L. Julian of Elk Park, NC.
John is survived by his wife, Deanna Julian; son, Zachary Julian (Faith) Knoxville; sister, Lynn Green (Kenneth) Johnson City; nephews, Kent Green (Dana), Johnson City and David Dale, Ashley, OH; niece, Denise McLain (Bill) Centerburg, OH; and many other relatives and friends.
John attended Berea Foundation, Berea, KY from 1961-1964. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BA in Political Science in 1968. John joined the Army National Guard in 1968 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant Colonel serving for 27 years. He was a supporter of U.K. Basketball and Football. He resided in Lexington, KY for 25 years. John and his family moved to Johnson City in 2000 and have enjoyed Boone Lake, hiking, reading and Hump Mountain in Roan Mountain, TN.
Services will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm Sunday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
