10/04/2017

Mrs. Thelma Jean Malone, age 78, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Four Oaks Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Malone was born in Washington County and daughter of the late James & Myrtle Jones Shaw. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Harvey “Tom” Malone, one brother, Lawrence Shaw and a nephew, Charles Lawrence Shaw, Jr.
She was a member of New Victory Baptist Church, where she loved keeping children in the nursery. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a special love for her great-granddaughter. Our mother loved the Lord and her family. She always spoke of her daughters and would always say she had the best sons-in-law anyone could ever ask for.
Mrs. Malone was a member of Jonesborough Rescue Squad Crewettes. She coached one of the first girl softball teams in Jonesborough.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy & Randy Cooper, Jonesborough and Karen & David Cicirello, Florence, SC; grandson, Jerry Lee Cooper and wife, Jennifer, Jonesborough; great-granddaughter, Callie Cooper; sister-in-law, Lillian Shaw, Jonesborough; and a niece, Brenda McCurry (Timmy), Telford.
The family would like to thank Four Oaks Healthcare for the loving care provided for our mom and all the great stories and kind words you have shared with us. They became more than mom’s caregivers, they are our friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Slagle officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Saturday prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter, Tammy.
Interment services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.
