Kathryn “Ann” Frost Christopher, 86 ½ , died Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Ann was born on February 12, 1931, in Seattle, Washington, to Reginald Thatcher and Estelle (Peggy) Egbert Frost. During World War II, she lived on Bainbridge Island, where they had blackout curtains at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. She attended the University of Washington, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta, and went to work at the Seattle Times. Ann married John H. Christopher on June 12, 1953 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Seattle. They traveled to several different states while John was in the army, then settled in the Seattle area before moving to Massapequa Park, New York in 1962 and Poughkeepsie, New York in 1965, where Ann lived till 2016.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John. Survivors include her daughters and spouses, Susan and Tim Roberts of Telford, Tennessee, and Barbara and Jim Monserud of Lafayette, Colorado; two grandchildren, Joshua Roberts and wife Brande of Burtchville, Michigan, and Charity Johnson of Minneapolis, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Marcus Roberts, and Lucas and Tyler Johnson; brother Richard Jack Frost of Salem, Oregon; and nieces Angela Frost Watton and Jennifer Frost Conner.
Ann was a member of Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls, New York and volunteered in many capacities. At church she ran the Sweet Shop (bake sale) at the church fair, served on the altar guild, served as parish secretary, edited and produced the Zion Chimes newsletter, helped at the Penny Pincher thrift shop, recorded the pledges, and chaired the columbarium garden committee. Around town she volunteered taking folks to appointments and took part in a court monitoring project.
Ann enjoyed golfing and made a hole in one on May 30, 1996. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing bridge and other games, reading, stamp collecting, genealogy, sewing, and gardening. She was the volunteer coordinator at Vassar Brothers Hospital at the information desk.
Ann moved to the Lakebridge Health Care Center in Johnson City, Tennessee, in September 2016, where she was closer to family. A special thanks to her nurses there who took great care of her and to her Poughkeepsie neighbor and friend Lynn, who was always there for her.
A memorial service will be held at Dillow-Taylor Funeral home in Jonesborough on August 26 at 2:00 pm.
