Robert Braxton McKenzie, 83, of Blountville, TN, passed through the gates to paradise to be with his Lord and family on April 4, 2017.
Bob graduated from Bristol High School and worked as a linotype operator in his family’s business, The Sullivan County News. After serving in the U. S. Air Force he married the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” Williams.
Bob was a loving husband and father and an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nina McKenzie, sister, Joyce McKenzie Counts, brothers, William McKenzie and James McKenzie, granddaughter Lori McKenzie, daughter-in-law Melissa McKenzie and just last year his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret.
Robert is survived by his brothers Joseph McKenzie and Richard McKenzie, sister Ann McKenzie and husband Joe Ritota, sons Robert and wife Sherry, Michael and wife Rebecca, and William, as well as his grandchildren, Joshua McKenzie, Audrey McKenzie, Braxton McKenzie, Cameron McKenzie, great granddaughter Maddie Toth and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Arcadia United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Arcadia United Methodist Church.

Joan Greene Younce
Bob and I go back to Blountville High School. His sister Joyce was a dear friend of mine. Joyce and I were cheerleaders & I also was cheerleader with their brother Bill. I spent a lot of time at their home and at the newspaper office. Bob was handsome, smart, funny and a great person to be around. I also was friends with his wife Peggy. Talked with her shortly before her death. Great people, I miss all of them.
