Bernard Jee, age 88, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in Jonesborough, Tennessee. He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans moving to Tennessee after Hurricane Katrina. He is survived by his 3 children, Karen Jee Rutenberg (Thomas), J. Mark Jee (Alisa) and Jason B. Jee (Issa) and his first wife, Gloria C. Jee. Grandchildren include Thomas E. Rutenberg III, Shari L. Grant (Thomas), Carolyn A. Dorfman (Noah), Jeremy M. Jee, Tabitha R. Jee and Jillian R. Jee. Great-grandchildren include Derek A. Rutenberg, James T. Rutenberg, Liam C. Grant, Reagan R. Grant, Judah H. Dorfman, Tyler E. Dorfman. He has many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Galland Jee, his father, Young Sun Jee, his mother, Ruby Eula Marks Jee and his 8 older brothers and sisters.
Benny served his country proudly as a United States Corporal stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1947. He worked for the City of New Orleans for 36 years and retired as City Fire Marshal from the New Orleans Fire Dept. in 1989. He had a passion for his faith, his country, his family and his friends. His smile, love and humor will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service with military honors at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124, on Saturday, December 10th. Visitation will be from 9am-11am. Church service and eulogy begins at 11am with last procession in Greenwood Cemetery and reception following.
