Mr. Eddie Joe Sims, 64, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
Mr. Sims was a native of Carter County, the son the late Bate and Myrtle Merritt Sims. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Frances Sims.
He attended and was a trustee of Canaan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
He worked for Courtyard by Marriott.
Survivors include his wife Anna Goodwin Sims, of Jonesborough, one son Logan Smith, Jonesborough, one brother Teddy Sims, and wife Bonnie, Elizabethton, a niece Gina Birchfield and husband Tony and niece Amy Morton, all of Elizabethton, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Sims will be at 6 pm Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Canaan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Simmons, Rev. Tony Birchfield, and Rev. Charles Trivett officiation. The family will receive friends at the church from 4 till 6 pm prior to the service. Interment will be at 10 am on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Birchfield, John Perry Singleton, Chris Walker, Ed Phillips, Mike Smith, Rick Hoyle, and Jason Lamb.

Ann and Logan my thoughts and prayers are with you guys at this time. Having worked with Joe for the several years, I got to know him well and the love he had for you guys was mentioned to us every day ! Logan you truly was his pride and joy and he was so proud of the man you are. I believe all of us at the hotel past and present have all been touched by what a great ,hardworking, and caring man Joe Sims was !
