Mr. Ira E. Jones, age 85, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, June 29, after a brief illness.
Mr. Jones was a life resident of Washington County and son of the late James Benjamin & Callie Jones. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Virginia “Genny” Jones, and a sister-in-law, Carol Sue Woods.
He attended Seviers United Methodist Church.
Mr. Jones was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War.
He retired from Budd Company and was a farmer. He was a past member of Lamar Ruritan.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Coffie Jones, Jonesborough; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & David Lowe; granddaughters, Amy Hall (Jason) and Brittney Kurfees (Brandon); great-granddaughters, Makenna & Kinley Hall; step-daughter, Charlene Johnson; step-sons, Brent Coffie (Krystal) and Bryan Coffie; step-grandchildren, Erin Johnson, Bill Coffie, Steven Coffie, Ryan Coffie, Kristopher Coffie and Kristine Allan; several step-great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Carrie Guinn; brothers-in-law, David Guinn (Janet), Darrell Woods and Michael Banner; special nieces and nephews, Kenny Woods, Kathy Harris and Sue Tittle; brothers, J.W. Jones and Tom Jones; sisters-in-law, Hilda Blankenship, Evelyn Sutton and Sue Tipton.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Four Oaks Nursing Staff and Administration and to family and friends for their wonderful loving care.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2016 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Seviers Cemetery with Pastor Parker Street officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Kurfees, Jason Hall, Kenny Woods, Kent Harris, Jason Harris, David Harris, Steven Coffie, Ryan Coffie and Bill Coffie. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Woods, Eddie Lee, Monty Treadway, Randy Decker, Gary Jones, Brian Woodfin and Billy Tittle.
Memorial donations may be made to Seviers Cemetery c/o Sally May 701 Hwy. 107 Jonesborough, TN 37659.
