Mr. Eugene Edward Merrill, age 72, of Blackberry Lane, Chuckey, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center with his wife, family, and friends by his side.
Mr. Merrill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Arthur & Alice Merrill and a daughter, Kristen Merrill.
Surviving him are his wife and best friend, Shirley Merrill; sons, Eugene Jr. and David Merrill; three loving step-sons, Terry Silvers, Mark Silvers, and Andrew Silvers; three special daughters-in-law, Angela, April, and Tina Silvers; the loves of his life, six grandchildren, Zachary, William, Dawson, Gunner, Shiloh, and Landrie; sister, Roberta Sliker and husband Carl; his lifetime friends, hunting buddies, new found friends from POPS, and special neighbors.
The family would like to send special thanks to EMS, Air Flight 2, staff of JCMC Intensive Care Unit, and all the prayers from everyone.
Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 pm Friday, June 3, 2016 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Shelton officiating.

I am lost for words. My eyes are filled with tears and my heart is heavy. You left too soon. There are so many things I still wanted to say to you. I just always thought there would be more time. Now you will know truly how I feel as my heart speaks to you directly. You taught me so much about life. You helped build the foundation of the man I am today.
