Paul Eugene Odendahl, 79, of Limestone, died Saturday evening, April 30 at home. He was born on November 25, 1936 in Pine City, Minnesota. He was the son of Lambert and Eva Miller Odendahl.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Odendahl of Limestone, TN, one son, Paul L. Odendahl of Newburgh, NY, three daughters, Sherrie LaGattuta of Walden, NY, Tracy Haskell of Williamsburg, VA and Paula Odendahl of Middletown, NY. He has five stepchildren, John Witherel and his wife Helen of Gardiner, NY and Julie Moussot and husband John of Wallkill, NY. Also, Kerry Jumper of Wallkill, NY, Kelly Capwell of Walden, NY and Kim Schaffer of Lewistown, PA. He has 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He is survived by one brother, Earl Odendahl and his wife Joanne of Pine City, MN and three sisters, Ramona Prior of Pine City, MN, Shirley Prior of Minneapolis, MN and Joan Odendahl of Minneapolis, MN, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Eva and Lambert Odendahl, by three brothers and their spouses, Albert and Mildred, Raymond and Maxine, Robert and Peggy. Also two brothers, Clare and Keith, and one sister and bother-in-law, Leota and Roy Stark. Mr. Odendahl served in the Navy from 1955 to 1957. He worked in construction in New York State for many years. He then went to work for Orange County Park System in New York and built parks and recreation facilities throughout the county. He restored several historic buildings, including the home of Thomas Bull, Hill Hold, the Brick House Museum and the one-room Goosetown School. He retired in 1991 as Director of Construction and Maintenance of the Orange County Parks and Recreation in Montgomery, NY.

He and his wife retired to a farm in Limestone, TN in 1992 and worked for three years restoring the 100+ year-old farmhouse, replacing the barn and outbuildings and building most of the furniture in their home. He worked for several years on the original restoration of the Dickson William Mansion in Greeneville, TN. His construction experience led to helping the Nolichuckey Fire Department build two additions. He was a member of the South Central Ruritan for many years and helped with construction on a new ball field, a new refreshment stand and equipment building. He did dozer work frequently to help his friends and neighbors.

At his request his body has been donated to the Quillen College of Medicine. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions can be made to the Nolichuckey Fire Department, Route 107, Chuckey, TN 37641.
