Mrs. Mary M. McKee Malone, age 88, Jonesborough, passed away peacefully Friday, April 22, 2016 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Malone was born December 10, 1927 to Frank & Lillie Cole McKee. Her mother died in 1929 and Frank and Aunt Ida McKee raised her and her siblings. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie “Bill” Malone in 1984, and a son, Johnny Bill Malone in 2006, brother and sister-in-law, Evert & Leona McKee, sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise & Tom Matson, Christine & Herman Phillips and Martha (her identical twin whom she missed dearly) & Howard Coggins. Mary was the last surviving sibling of the McKee family.
She was a charter member of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church, where she helped to establish the clothing ministry with her friend, Pauline Clark. She loved the Lord, her church, and reading her Bible, which she read through numerous times.
Mary was a hard worker, housekeeper, took care of children and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who was always willing to help her family and friends. She took pride in her flowers and garden and loved working in them.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Malone, Jonesborough; grandchildren, Lauren Moore (Daniel), Jenny Kellum (Jeff) and Johnny Malone; daughter-in-law, Linda Malone; several nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces
The family would like to thank her church family, friends, Dean McLaughlin MD & staff, Johnson City Medical Center staff and NHC staff for all the care and concern given to Mary.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Monday, April 25, 2016 at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Perry Cleek and Pastor Joe Beaver officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday prior to the service.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Maple Lawn Cemetery. The procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 am.
Pallbearers will be Frank Arthur, Jeremy Broyles, Johnny Malone, Rodney Metcalf, Powell Milhorn and Barry Stoots. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Nave, Charles Broyles, David Casteel and men of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church P.O. Box 671 Jonesborough, TN 37659.
