Joseph Breckenridge Collins, Sr.

Mr. Joseph Breckenridge Collins, Sr., age 84, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Christian Care Center, Johnson City.
Mr. Collins was born in Trenton, NC and son of the late Fay Roy & Agnes Monk Collins. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Collins and Roy Collins, and sister-in-law Pearl Collins.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. He worked many years at Sears as the warehouse manager and retired from a materials management career after working ten years in the Saudi Arabian hospital system. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and always looked forward to their next adventure. He was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles. He had many friends all over the world. He most enjoyed family gatherings and singing with his brothers and cousins.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Clatie McLean Collins, Johnson City; his brother, Greg Collins, and sister-in-law Mary Lib Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Jane Collins Eddy & Michael Eddy, Johnson City; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph B. “Breck” Collins, Jr. & Linda Collins, Denver, NC; grandchildren, Kellie Collins, Breck Collins, Wesley Collins, Jordan Eddy and Leah Eddy; and two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Peyton Allen.
The family would like to thank the staff and care givers of the Christian Care Center and James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for their wonderful loving care.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 pm Saturday, January 30. 2016 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Saturday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 10:45 am Monday, February 1, 2016 at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Eddy, Breck and Wesley Collins and Garrett and Peyton Allen.
