Mr. Robert (Bob) Milton Alford, Sr., age 74, of Johnson City, TN. passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Jefferson City, TN. with his loving family by his side. "He did it his way."
Mr. Alford was born in Unicoi County, TN., the son of the late William Jackson & Mildred Caroline Sechrest Alford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife Janie Oaks Alford.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy as did his father.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Erwin and attended Antioch Baptist Church in Johnson City.
Mr. Alford is survived by his sons: Robert Milton Alford II of Johnson City, TN and Christopher Eric Alford of Jonesborough. Three grandchildren: Amanda Nicole Alford of Gray, TN. Samuel Christian Alford and Adam Malone Alford of Jonesborough, TN. One great grandchild, Greyson Jett Snyder of Gray, TN. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Barbara Miller-Alford of Johnson City. His loving sister, Jacqueline Marie Alford Frasher and her husband Van of Talbot, TN, who went through good and bad times with Bob was there for him until the end, also survive. Bob is also survived by 2 nieces, 3 great nieces and one great nephew.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 17, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough, TN.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, December 18, 2015, at 10:45 a.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetary with Pastor Tim Hall officiating with full military honors. Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends.

So sorry for your loss. What a blessing to know that your
father left such an impact through his Christian legacy.
Prayers for all of you.
Growing up my dad and I were never the best of friends. Tension between us led to a lot of resentment from me towards him. At about age 15 I saw my dad began to transform into a new person and at the time I didn't really understand or care. It took us a long time to become friends. As that friendship developed I watched him read the Bible and talk about Jesus to whoever would listen.
Since 2003, after the death of his second wife, became the best, good memories of my dad, traveling to Nashville to his Herbalife conventions, going to church together and him being there for me and me for him without hesitation.
I didn't always like the man my dad was but I loved the man he became. He became a dedicated Christian, an unwavering follower of the Lord; he became a man that cared deeply about his faith, life and his family, especially my brother and I.
I honestly don't know what I will do without him, but that is the selfish part of being human. I have cried so hard and often over the past few days, thinking about the trips to the hospital, his multiple daily calls at whatever time it happened to be and his constant craving for ice cream, "any flavor please!" My tears will soon be gone because I know, this is it! He is where he worked so hard, through his love of Jesus Christ to be!
Soon after his death on Tuesday I posted that he had passed away and that he would be a great addition to the Kingdom of Heaven and he certainly will be!
