Rev. Kenneth Millard Newman, Sr., age 84, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at his residence.
Rev. Newman was born in Bristol, TN and son of the late Henry Simon & Anna Carrie Rutherford Newman. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
He was a retired Methodist Minister and member of Telford United Methodist Church. Rev. Newman previously pastored Rheatown United Methodist Church, Albright United Methodist Church, Telford United Methodist Church, New Victory United Methodist Church, Bewley’s Chapel, Oven Creek, O & S United Methodist Church, Bruner’s Grove, Warrensburg United Methodist Church, Union Temple, and Jeroldstown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Geneva Fleenor Newman, Jonesborough; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Debra Newman; daughter, Robin Renee Greene; granddaughters, Tiffany Rogers (Brandon) and Sabrina Nicole Newman; great grandson Owen Harrison two sisters, Gay Akard and Hattie Mae Frazier; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mountain States Hospice for the loving care they gave Rev. Newman.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 pm Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Vaughn and Rev. Millard Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-4:00 pm Saturday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Glen Newman, Bill Gross, Gray McCracken, Brandon Rogers, Danny Greene, and Ralph Newman. Honorary pallbearers will be United Methodist Church Retired Ministers of Johnson City District, Paul Fleenor, Roy Fleener, Calvin Lester and Gerald Murray.
