Mr. James “Jim” Edward Airey, age 97, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Four Oaks Healthcare Center under hospice care.
Mr. Airey was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 18, 1917 and was the last survivor of nine siblings. He was the son of the late James & Virginia Jones Airey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Georgina Airey, daughter-in-law, Beverly Daffron, and a grandson, Christopher Daffron.
He resided in St. Petersburg, FL for 60 years and was a retired banker.
Mr. Airey was a proud founding member of the Pumpkin Patch at Clearview United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg, FL.
Due to health reasons, he relocated to Jonesborough, TN and resided with his son and daughter-in-law.
He became a member of the Jonesborough United Methodist Church, was an active member of the choir, and was embraced and loved by the congregation.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Daffron and wife Trudy of Lilburn, GA, Greg Daffron of Durham, NC and Wiley Daffron and wife Gail, of the home; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in St. Petersburg, FL and at Jonesborough United Methodist Church at a later date.
