Mr. Dorsey Burwin “Pete” Ferguson, age 91, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday August 22, 2015 at Druham Hensley Health Care surrounded by his five daughters, following a brief illness.
Pete was a native of Jonesborough and the son of the late William Mckinley Ferguson and Buelah Mitchell Ferguson. He was also preceded in death by his wife Lucille Ferguson, three sons-in-law, Dr. Mike Simmons, Jack Burkhard, and David Nunley; grandchildren, Teresa Jane Hunt, Brandy Russell, Jerry Wayne Russell, Shawnathy Ferguson, and Jennifer Cloyd.
He retired from Eastman Kodak Company of Kingsport after 40 years. After retirement, Pete could be found on his riding lawn mower, helping family and neighbors. He wanted everyone’s lawn to look like a golf course.
Pete served in United States Navy in WWII from 1943-1946. He served on the USS Mississippi Battle Ship.
Pete is survived by his children, Nancy Jane Hunt Simmons, Alice “Ali” Burkhard, Faye Russell and husband Jerry, Gaye Wright and husband Greg, Penny Price and husband Joe, Patty Ann Nunley, Donna Mckinney and husband Steve, Kenny Cloyd and wife Robin; brother, Kenny Ferguson and wife Alethia and a sister, Jewell Fox and husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Robin Hunt Adams, Ronnie Leach, Troy Dwight Hunt, Aaron Price, Alex Price, Justin Isaac Hunt, Chad Hunt, Josh Russell, Chaynce Wright, Zelika Wright and Reggie Leach, Jeff Nunley, Kara Cloyd and husband Josh twenty great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews Scott Fox, Lisa Ferguson, Brian Ferguson, Kathy Carson, and Kenny Fox.
The family would like to give a special thanks to VA Nursing Staff and especially Associate Director for Patient Care and Nursing Service, Helen Harrison, also Durham Hensley Health Care, Caris Hospice, special friends, Danny Holmes, Preston Burk and neighbor, Betty.
The family will receive family and friends Tuesday August 25, 2015 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM. Graveside with Military Honors will be Wednesday August 26, 2015 11:30 AM at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

to get to funeral home due to my health
