Mrs. Helen Kathryn Brown, 92, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Brown was born in Knoxville in 1923, daughter of the late Pleasant E. and Naomi Johnson Tillery, and moved to Jonesborough in 1950.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Brown SR.; grandson Danny Joe Nelson; sisters Rosemary Wooten, Ruth Rogers, Nellene Tillery, and Betty Cathey; and daughter-in-law Patsy Brown.
She is survived by her son Mark Brown; daughter and son-in-law Jean and Joe Nelson; son and daughter-in-law Joe W. (Bill) and Carol Brown; grandsons Corey Brown, David Nelson, and Drew Nelson ; great-granddaughter Hayden Nelson Sturtz; great-great-granddaughter Athena Sturtz; nieces Patty Keck and Karen Foy; and special nephew Tom Rogers.
Mrs. Brown retired from Richard Diehl Trucking in 1989 after 24 years of loyal service.
She was an avid gardener with a “green thumb” and had a beautiful yard and flowers.
Mrs. Brown attended First Baptist Church in Jonesborough where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Springdale Home Club.
The family wishes to thank the 5500 wing at Johnson City Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. James Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Burial Park. Pallbearers will be David Nelson, Drew Nelson, Corey Brown, Chris Diehl, Joe Diehl, and Jared Diehl.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church, 201 E Main St, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
