Mr. George Allen Hughes, age 81, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Hughes was born May 11, 1934 in Avery County, NC and lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Donald & Odie B. Arnett Hughes.
He worked at Rainbow Bakery for 40 years.
Mr. Hughes was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Anna L. Holland Hughes; two daughters, Teresa A. Mosley and husband Dennis and Cynthia L. Willis and husband Ernest; one sister, Leona McInturff; three brothers, Bobby J. Hughes, Kenneth Hughes and wife Phyllis and Michael Hughes and wife Polly; “Poppy” as he is known by all, has nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; all of whom he is very proud; and several nephews and nieces.
“Poppy” really loved people, being the best father and husband known to man, he will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Mr. David Carver and Mr. Terry Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.

compation for everyone. He always treated me as
another brother
which gave us a special relationship. He was loved
and certainly will be missed.
