Mrs. Sara Cooper Rogers, age 97, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Shannondale Nursing Home in Knoxville.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Chenoa, Kentucky and daughter of the late Joe & Matilda Martin Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rogers, one sister, Pansy Jackson and three brothers, Leamon Cooper, Virgil “Red” Cooper and Cecil Cooper.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesborough. She taught for 30 years in the Primary Department and member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Rogers was a seamstress all her life and a homemaker. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She was always smiling. She and Bob loved to garden.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & Ron Mouser, Knoxville; grandson, Scott Mouser (Sarah) Lumberton, NC; granddaughter, Lori Wallace (Andy), Seymour, TN; great grandchildren, Zachary Wallace and Caleb Wallace, both of Seymour, TN; three step great-grandchildren, Ben Ervin, Sam Ervin and David Ervin; and one brother, Tilford Cooper, Johnson City.
The family would like to send special thanks to her close friends and caregivers. A special appreciation expressed to the staff of Shannondale Nursing Home in Knoxville for their thoughtful and loving care of Sara.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 PM Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. James Harrison, Mr. Johnnie Dillow and Rev. Ron Mouser officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:30 PM Thursday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Barbara, You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers. I have so many great memories of Thelma and Sara and all the other "girls". They were the best. I told John they were all together again. Sorry I didn't get to visit with you, but Bob has dementia and keeps me quite busy. May God bless you and your family.

Dear Barbara and family Am very sorry to hear about your mom. i really loved her and have such fond memories of her from when i was growing up. She and your dad were awesome people and such blessings to John and Thelma as well as you. I have great comfort in knowing that they are all together now in Heaven and will be there waiting on us when we one day join them. That is a great picture of her and that beautiful smile is how i always remembered her. God bless you guys and much love to you.
