J. W. Morelock

05/06/2015

J. W. Morelock, Telford, went to be with our Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was the silent rock of our family and will be missed more than words could ever explain. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and one incredibly selfless man. He loved spending time with his family at his home in Telford and enjoyed working in his garden and garage. J. W. loved his community and helping those members within it during their times of need. Although the loss of our silent rock is devastating, we feel comfort in knowing he is in a better place and that we will see him again.
Mr. Morelock was a native of Greene County and a son of the late Bennie and Flavia Morelock. Besides his parents, J. W. was preceded in death by brothers Bennie Morelock, George Morelock, and Jimmy Morelock, and sisters Peggy and Shirley.
Mr. Morelock enjoyed farming and tending to his many farm animals.
He served one tour in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. He worked for TDOT for 34 years as a paint shop supervisor. He was a member of the Telford Ruritan, Telford United Methodist Church, and VFW Post 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patsy Morelock; daughters and sons-in-law, Schery and Mike Collins, Amy and Marvin Pleasant, Carla and Kevin Weems; one special son Pat Lee and daughter-in-law Missy Loyd; granddaughters Jackie Loyd, Kara Weems, and Madison Pleasant; grandsons Brad and Misty Adams, Curt Collins and Aly Carrino, Anthony and Sam Pleasant, Johnny Loyd, and Caden Weems; great-granddaughters Addilyn and Zaylei Adams; sisters Nancy Street and Billie Jo Hicks,; brothers-in-law John Hicks and Jim Russell; sister-in-law Ann Morelock; special cousin Bobby Collins; special nephew Gary Cloyd; many nieces and nephews; his favorite companion dog Zoey; and many special friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Morelock will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, 7:00 PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 â€" 7:00 PM prior to the service.
Gravesides services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015, 10:00 AM at Telford Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Kilby, Marvin Pleasant, Dennis Keplinger, Mike Collins, Kevin Weems, Jerry Loyd, Brad Adams, and Curt Collins. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Bradley, Tom Keplinger, Jackie Adams, Jim Russell, Dale Hensley (Sug), and Russell Hensley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Telford United Methodist Youth Program at 1775 Old state Route 34, Telford, TN 37690 or to the Shriners Hospital located in Greeneville, South Carolina.

J.W. was as much as an older brother as he was my young uncle. Always a very quiet, caring, and loving person. I miss him dearly and will forever remember him.

Dear Family, You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. It was a pleasure to call J. W. my friend. I remember the good times we had working in the Highway Marking Dept. The last time I saw him was at Ingles in Jonesborough. He always asked about my family. He also told me about his family. He was so proud of each one. God Bless.
