Dorothy Florence Gray Bennett

02/05/2015

On a clear crisp evening, Dorothy Florence Gray Bennett, Johnson City, went to sleep and woke up in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, February 5, 2015. There to welcome her to heaven was her husband of 62 years, Sherrill Bennett and her son Jerry Bennett. Her brother and sisters were also there rejoicing at their family homecoming.
Dorothy lived a life others only dream of starting with marrying her high school sweetheart, raising their son and daughter Teresa Ann Bennett Livingston, watching all her grandchildren grow…all while being able to get up each morning with a view of “her” mountains. This same ridge ran from her home all the way down to Union Christian Church where she worshipped most of her life.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Teresa and John Livingston, of Jonesborough, two granddaughters, Savannah Bennett, of Hubert, NC, and Kimberly Bennett, of NC, one grandson, Ian Spencer Livingston, of Jonesborough, and three great-grandchildren.
Saturday, February 7, 2015 we will have a celebration of her life and remembrance of a Christian woman who always put others first. Join us from 12:00-1:00 for visitation at Union Christian Church with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 PM, Minister Charles Fitzsimmons officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Christian Church 3639 Cherokee Rd. Jonesborough, TN 37659.
