Mrs. Ida M Fanduzz, 89, Johnson City passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Appalachian Christian Village.
She was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Edward and Maude Shanks Matthews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Fanduzz, a son Steve Fanduzz, granddaughter Sarah Fanduzz, two sister’s Lois Reeser and Margaret Martin and two brothers Ed Matthews Jr. and John Matthews.
Mrs. Fanduzz retired from the tax assessor’s office.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Ida loved spending time with her family. She loved the trips to the beach to watch her grandchildren and great grandson play in the sand, shopping and helping her granddaughter pick out clothes. She loved having her grandsons spend the night and listening to their stories about ghost upstairs and her granddaughters being together and listening to their stories and laughter. She enjoyed her trips with her nieces and always had interesting stories to share about them, the apple butter brought to her from a church bazzar and snuggling up and sharing hushpuppies with a special little someone.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy & Raymond Eller, Shady Valley and Laura & Mike Bowery, Blountville; grandchildren, Jennifer Eller, Rachel Fanduzz, Joe Fanduzz, Brian Henley and Ty Brandon Hubbard; great-grandson, Chance Fanduzz; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Fanduzz Eldridge and husband John Eldridge; sister, Virginia Glaze; sister-in-law, Jane Matthews; and several nephews and nieces.
Private services will be held at a later date.
The family would like to acknowledge the love and care she received from the staff of Appalachian Christian Village and to all of you that brought and shared a glass of sweet tea and a milkshake with her.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Center 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Nona was a beautiful person to all who knew her. Her soul was bright and full of happiness. Nona loved unconditionally. We will miss our laughs and talks we shared. We are truly blessed to have called her grandmother.
Nona, this is not good bye, we will see you again one day .... We love you very much and you will always keep a special place in our hearts ...
Ida was always the sweetest woman I have ever had the privilege to know and work with. We seem to bond from the moment we started to work together back in 1979. I know she is rejoicing in Heaven with Joe, Steve and her granddaughter and parents. Love you sweet lady.
