Mr. Horace C. Rankin, age 83, of the Leesburg Community went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Durham-Hensley Nursing Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents Billie and Mamie Cox Rankin. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Gail, two nephews Robert and wife Dinah: Allan and wife Tina; 4 great nephews: john, Nathan, Samuel and Matthew and 1 great-great niece, Kayla.
Horace was a teacher of Math and Science in the Washington County School System: 1st at Sulphur Springs and then at Daniel Boone: was a charter member of the Leesburg Ruritan Club: served on the Board of Directors of the Fairview Cemetery Committee for many years and was elected a member in abstention: served in the 3rd Armored Division Headquarters Unit in Germany.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends with honorary pallbearers being Paige Palmer, Edward DeVault, Ferrall Sutphin, Tim Harris, Pat Wolfe and Bodey Fox.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Durham-Hensley Nursing Home and Hospice for all the care they gave Horace. We could not have asked for any better.
