Mrs. Sharon Nelson, age 69, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Yancey County, NC and daughter of the late Wilce & Lula Miller Adkins. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, father & mother-in-law, Andrew & Gladys Nelson.
She was a member of Caney Chapel Church.
Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker and drove a school bus for the Washington County School System for over 30 years and dearly loved her kids. She enjoyed fishing and growing flowers.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Freddie Nelson, Jonesborough; children, Sherry Lynn Nelson, Tracy Dawn Nelson and Melissa Jill Sturgill; grandchildren, Dustin LynnHawkins, Amber Danielle Nelson and Sharon Drew Sturgill; great-granddaughter, Angle Hawkins; two brothers, Roger Reece Adkins and Dwight Adkins; one sister, Lina Bailey; nieces, Vickie Nelson Browder (Warren) and Penny Nelson; sister-in-law, Nancy Nelson Smith (Lawrence); her dog, Tucker; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Simmons and Pastor Jerry Powers officiating. Music will be provided by grandson, Dustin Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Nelson, Kenneth Nelson, Sam Nelson, Charlie Nelson, Kenny Nelson, Randy Adams and Patrick Woodfin.
Memorial donations may be made to Lamar Elementary School 3261 Hwy 81 South, Jonesborough, TN 37659 in memory of Sharon Nelson for hungry children.
