Betty Jo Keplinger Williams

Mrs. Betty Jo Keplinger Williams, age 83, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in Johnson City after a courageous battle of kidney cancer.
Mrs. Williams was born April 2, 1931 in the Lamar Community to the late Horace & Rose Hill Keplinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Toad” Williams, who passed away December 5, 2004.
She was member of Bethel Church of Christ. Her love was being in church with friends and family. A Sunday school teacher. She sang in the choir, solos and duets. How she loved the hymns. Many times you would find young ministers from Milligan and Emmanuel sitting at her table having a meal.
Betty graduated from Lamar School in 1951. She enjoyed gardening, family, church and working. She was a fantastic cook. She began at Lamar School in 1960’s and spent many years at Milligan College as a cook. Many summers she was camp cook at Appalachian Christian Camp. For years she served the B.D. Phillips family in Butler, PA. She ended her cooking career working at Woodridge Hospital.
Survivors include three children, Thomas and wife, Etta Lea, Knoxville and Richard T. Jonesborough and Carol Ann, Johnson City; her pride and joy was her grandchildren, Angie & David, Tommy & Miranda, Chris & Allison and Anthony & Kristy; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Ian, Addison, Corey, Jack and Raegan, they brought her much laughter and joy, she loved them dearly; and two brothers, William Jack, Fall Branch and Lee, Peoria, Illinois.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team of dialysis experts at Davita. They became like family. To the nursing staff on the 5th floor at Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Amy Proffitt and her staff, they constantly went the extra mile for Betty.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister Terry Lyons officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 12, Noon Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Cherry Grove-Keplinger Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and friends.
