Mrs. Valerie Janelle Hughes, age 62, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Washington County, Tennessee and daughter of the late Horace and Viva Lou May Phillips. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hughes and sister, Katherine Oliver.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Jonesborough.
Survivors include her son, Jack R. Hughes (Sandy), and grandson, Jack Hunter Hughes, Johnson City; sisters Charlotte Gentry (Danny), and Linda Curtis (Maynard) both of Jonesborough; brother-in-law, Charlie John Hughes; father-in-law, Jack Hughes, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family sends special thanks to the staff and caregivers at NHC.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, November 14, 2014 at Trinity Assembly of God, 617 University Parkway, Johnson City. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Ed Jefferies officiating.
