Mrs. Leila M. Casey Briggs, age 73, formerly of Limestone, went home to be with the Lord with all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, by her side, Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Briggs was born in Bumpass Cove and daughter of the late Henry & Alma Jenkins Casey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dorsey Briggs, one daughter, Julia Graham, one grandson, Daniel Richardson, three brothers, Henry Lee Casey, Howard Casey and Millard Casey, and son-in-law, Robbie Matherly.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Briggs was a former employee of Jonesboro Nursing Home and a homemaker. She was at her happiest when she was with her family. She enjoyed participating in church and activities at Lakebridge Health Care Center.
Survivors include children, Lorrine Miner, Johnson City, Tammy Denton (Danny) Charleston, SC, Jerry Briggs, Johnson City, Doris Matherly (Gary White), Greeneville, and Tommy Briggs, Jonesborough; son-in-law, Donald Graham, Chuckey; grandchildren, Brandy Cole (Gideon), Greg Richardson (Penny), Kevin Denton (Erin), Amy Hensley (Timmy), Jenny Holt (Jason), Jessica Tweed (Aaron), Danielle Miner and Justin Briggs, Tyler Briggs (Courtney), Samantha Graham (Caleb Caldwell) and Lyndsey Briggs; sisters, Sherry Rogers (Danny), Mildred Faye Greene and Janice Garland (Don); sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Otis Banks officiating. Interment services will follow at Embreeville Cove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gideon Cole, Greg Richardson, Kevin Denton, Timmy Hensley, Jason Holt, Aaron Tweed, Justin Briggs, Tyler Briggs and Caleb Caldwell.
