Mrs. Alma L. Saylor, age 99, formerly of Jonesborough, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the John M. Reed Nursing Home.
Mrs. Saylor was the daughter of the late Robert & Laura Belle Smith Weaver of Bluff City, TN. In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd D. Saylor in 2002; as well as three brothers, Carl Weaver, Wayne Weaver and Cecil Weaver, and one sister, Hazel Payne.
She came from a farming family the first of seven children and maintained high grades in school while tending to her responsibilities on the farm. She was a homemaker and retired seamstress.
Mrs. Saylor was the oldest member of Eden United Methodist Church.
Survivors to cherish her memory, her son and daughter-in-law, Lawton & Jane Saylor, Jonesborough; daughter, and son-in-law, Doris & Victor Leonard, Jonesborough; grandchildren, Wendy Saylor McCurry (Steve), Shelley E. Saylor, Travis D. Leonard (Markeela), Leah Leonard Moseley (Brent), all of Tennessee; six great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Dorothy Kligensmith, Apopka, FL; her brother, J.D. Weaver, Bluff City; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to John M. Reed Nursing Home staff and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Ponder officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Eden Cemetery. The family request friends meet at the cemetery at 12:50 PM prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Dulaney, Clifford Huffine and grandsons, Travis Leonard, Jacob Ensor, Joshua Ensor, Steven McCurry and Brent Moseley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Wilson, Jim Brumit, Walter Huffine, Dean Rambo and the Fellowship Class of Eden United Methodist Church.
