Doyle Franklin Cook, age 80, of Jonesborough, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 11, 2014. He was born in Avery County, NC, February 24, 1934 and was the son of the late Conard and Ollie Stanberry Cook.

Doyle was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jonesborough, faithfully serving his Lord in many capacities for over 60 years, including trustee and sound system operator. He was also a member of the Rhea Masonic Lodge #47 in Jonesborough.

He retired from North American Polyester Textiles in Elizabethton. He spent his retirement enjoying Johnson City Cardinals baseball games, tending his garden, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Dennis Cook (Banner Elk, NC), Lucy Cook Jones (Elizabethton), Betty Cook Estep (Elizabethton), Mildred Cook Crawford (Valdese, NC), and Clearance Cook (Walkertown, NC).

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret Ferguson Cook; son and daughter in law, Tommy and Angie Cook, grandson Daniel, and granddaughter Laura, all of Knoxville; Eula Cook Jones, of Beach Mountain, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Ford, Tim Ford, Wayne Taylor, Rex Taylor, Jeff Coggins, and Kyle Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Men’s Sunday school class.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Jonesborough, TN, from 5:00-7:00 pm with service to follow at 7:00pm. Rev. Bud Pate, Rev. Cody Greene, and Rev. Charles Shelton will officiate.

Graveside services will be held on 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Rev. Brian Nulf will officiate.
