Emily “Lee” Duckworth Cloyd went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.
She was born on November 14, 1924 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and moved to Jonesborough as a young bride in 1943 with her husband John. Together they owned and operated Cloyd’s Jewelry Store in downtown Jonesborough for over 40 years.
She was a charter member of Westside Christian Church in Jonesborough and had been a dedicated servant to her Lord until her health began to fail.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, John C. Cloyd, Sr. and sons, John “Johnny” Cloyd and James Dale Cloyd, two sisters and one brother.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and son-in-laws, Billie Jean and Ray Osborne and Betty Jo and Darrell Dempsey; two granddaughters, Jennifer Konomos and Melissa Cloyd; two grandsons, Charlie Cloyd and Daniel Cloyd; three great-granddaughters and a great-grandson; several nieces and nephews and great nieces/great nephews; a special niece, Phyllis C. Crain, and special sister-in-law and brother-in-law-Mary Lee and Alex Stuart; two devoted friends, Betty Nunley and Pat Martin; CNAs Marcella Ball and Linda Knight; nurses Kathy Morning, Rebecca Lee, and Melissa Turner and her church and community friends. A special thank you to the Hospice Amedisys Kingsport group.
A “Going Home” service for Lee will be conducted on Friday, September 26, 3:30pm, at Westside Christian Church. The family will receive friends form 2:30 pm to 3:30pm at the church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
